Correctly Diagnosing the Hearing Loss

Now that you’ve admitted that you may be struggling to hear and you are ready to live a happier, fuller life with better hearing, it’s important that we correctly diagnose the type and degree of hearing loss you have in one or both ears.  We will test you with tones, words and words in noise.

Hearing loss can be complicated.  There are mixed varieties and the more you understand about why you are struggling to hear, the better you will be able to help yourself to achieve your personal goals of hearing your best in all environments.

We hear time and time again that someone purchased hearing aids from a different place and no one ever explained to them why they couldn’t hear and the only solution was putting hearing aids on without further explanation.

You deserve to be a part of this rehabilitation process.  We break it down for you into easy, understandable terms so you feel as though you are owning this process.

Finding the Proper Hearing System

We take this step very seriously.  We take into consideration unique you, your health (your vision, dexterity, cognitive abilities, and general health), budget as well as your goals and dreams of what you want to be able to do again once you are fit with the perfect hearing system for you.

We begin with fitting your ears with a sample/demo hearing aid system and make modifications to it so you can wear it for one week at about 70-80% of your prescription.

• Then in one week, we will see you again, record how well you did from your written feedback in your workbook, your verbal feedback about your daily life improvements and also what tweaks you need.  Generally, the prescription is raised another 10%.
• At the 2 week visit, you have an idea of how much better your life is and how much yuo are enjoying easy conversations and television.
• Next we help you choose your perfect hearing devices.
• At week 4, we fit you with your devices using a scientific process of measuring the sounds at your eardrums while you are being fit with a different computer program.  This verification process helps us to know if you are hearing all parts of speech optimally.

You will be slowly introduced this in the beginning and gradually you will be given “homework” to help improve your hearing and processing abilities.
